Fifth grade students from Citrus Grove Elementary, Eneida M. Hartner Elementary, Frances S. Tucker Elementary, Frederick Douglass Elementary, Holmes Elementary, Lenora B. Smith Elementary, Morningside Elementary, Paul L. Dunbar Elementary, and Phillis Wheatley Elementary took an anti-violence pledge led by Miami Assistant Chief Najiy at Jungle Island on Friday, September 26 as part of DTRT’s “Back Without A Bang!” Youth Rally Against Violence.  Nearly 600 students signed a giant pledge card which will be sent to the governor, as well as performed anti-violence skits.  The event was attended by staff from the Miami Police Department and School Police as well as representatives from MDCPS and Miami City Manager Daniel Alfonso.
