Senior Police Executive Angel Calzadilla/Do The Right Thing Police Memorial Scholarship

angel-c-pic1The Miami Police Department’s Do The Right Thing (DTRT) Program is in search of  young adults between the ages of 18-22 interested in serving the community as police officers in honor of a beloved officer who passed away in 2011.

The Senior Police Executive Angel Calzadilla/Do The Right Thing Police Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Senior Police Executive Calzadilla, a well regarded officer who succumbed to a lifelong private struggle with cystic fibrosis at the age of 48.

Do The Right Thing, known for recognizing and rewarding area youths for their positive behavior and actions, awards the scholarship to one young adult annually to cover tuition up to $6,100 to attend the City of Miami Police Academy.

Applications should be submitted online by Monday, February 26, 2024.

You must be between the ages of 18-22, a U.S citizen, have a valid driver’s license and have not been convicted of any felony to apply.

Please note: The scholarship recipient will have up to two years to use the scholarship after award date.  If the applicant has not used the scholarship after the two years are up, the applicant forfeits the scholarship.
