Sofia Hassn

Sofia showed empathy to a student in her class who has high-
functioning autism and definitely stands out. Recently, some students
were bullying and teasing this student for his behavior. Sofia not only
stood up to the bullies and defended him but made an effort to be his
partner and help him so that he never feels alone or left out. Recently,
this student was having a particularly difficult day and the very next
day Sofia showed up with a gift for this boy nicely wrapped, with a
Mario-theme which happens to be his obsession. When asked why she
bought him the gift, Sofia explained that she wanted him to know that
he has a friend. Outside of school she is a gymnast and takes acting
classes. Sofia demonstrated kindness and compassion and serves as
an excellent example for her peers.
