JAaliyah Powell

JAaliyah was very observant and took swift action when she saw a
student in duress in the cafeteria. She spotted a child choking and
quickly ran and alerted a security staff member who was able to
assist. Had she not been attentive, the situation could have been
worse. She continued to make sure that the boy was okay until his
parents were called. By being alert and taking action, JAaliya helped
save a student’s life. At school she is a cheerleader and a kind, caring,
and hard-working student who always strives to do her best and
makes it a priority to look out for others. Recently she reached out to
one of the younger students at school who was in crisis and needed
assistance. She made sure an adult was notified so that the child could
get the help that they needed. JAaliyah demonstrates care and
compassion by looking out for the needs of others and always lending
a helping hand.
