Catherin Osorio
Twelfth Grade, Ronald Regan Doral Senior High
Catherin was diagnosed with an intellectual disability and requires specialized instruction. When she was young, Catherin endured difficult situations at home and subsequently went to live with her grandfather. Unfortunately, her grandfather passed away due to COVID, which was a difficult loss for Catherin and her family. Throughout her life, Catherin has experienced hardship to include bullying and other negative behaviors from others. However, these incidents have not stopped Catherin from maintaining a positive and happy mindset. She is part of Project Victory, a program for students with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities whose post secondary goal is employment. Currently, she is learning life skills through work-related experiences working at Publix and a flower shop during the week. Every week, Catherin comes to school with a big smile and lots of enthusiasm and brings flower arrangements to office staff and teachers to brighten their day. Despite the obstacles, Catherin continues to persevere every day.
