D’Yani Bivens

Twelfth Grade, Booker T. Washington Senior High

D’Yani displays exceptional leadership abilities and is very involved in sports at her school. She is passionate about the safety of the athletes around her, as evidenced by her quick thinking when rendering medical aid to a football player who was seriously injured in a recent game. She selflessly assisted in ensuring that he remained calm, alert, and aware until additional medical services were provided by fire rescue prior to his transport to the hospital. She is kindhearted and helps teachers as well as students with any given task. While Dyani’s mother moved to another city, D’Yani decided to stay to be the sole caregiver for her elderly grandmother. She completes community service hours on a weekly basis and wants to pursue a degree in sports management upon graduation. At school, D’Yani serves as SGA President, Volleyball Team Captain, Student Athletic trainer, is part of the Softball and Girls Flag Football Team, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and also serves as a mentor of the Best Buddies club. She does all of this while maintaining excellent grades. D’Yani truly exemplifies what it means to do the right thing both in and out of the classroom.
