Alessandra Acosta

Alessandra always goes above and beyond for her friends and classmates, even in life-or-death situations. Recently, one of her classmates was going through a mental health crisis and was experiencing suicidal thoughts and Alessandra bravely reached out to a trusted adult for help for her friend. Because of Alessandra, her friend received the appropriate assistance and interventions needed and was prevented from harming herself. Alessandra radiates happiness and kindness everywhere she goes and is a responsible student who has persevered through life’s obstacles while maintaining a positive attitude. Despite arriving from Cuba earlier this school year without knowing English, she has thrived academically, recently having presented in front of her class fully in English, and is eager to continue to succeed. She is intuitive and will go out of her way to ensure everyone is okay and does not hesitate to help whenever possible. Whenever there is a new student, she is the first to welcome them to the class and aid in acclimation. At home, she ensures that her twin brother stays caught up and pushes him to succeed. Alessandra is the epitome of perseverance, hard work, and courage.
