Evan Cabrera

Evan is a member of the Gifted Program and consistently earns Honor Roll. He is a thoughtful, respectful young man who consistently strives to make positive choices. Recently, Evan overheard a conversation among several peers during lunch regarding a student who allegedly brought a knife to school and had made threats toward two classmates. The student had reportedly displayed the knife to other students. Although Evan was not directly involved, the conversation deeply troubled him. Evan recognized the seriousness of the situation and understood that if the information were true, lives could be in danger. Acting with courage and maturity, Evan immediately reported the information to the school’s administration. Following Evan’s report, the student in question was identified, and immediate interventions were put in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students involved. Due to Evan’s willingness to speak up, three lives were protected, the two intended victims and the student who was in distress and had a clear plan. Evan’s bravery, sense of moral responsibility, and genuine concern for others made a profound impact on his peers and school community.
