Evan Soberats

Third Grade, Dante B. Fascell Elementary
Rapids Waterpark Trip Winner

Evan noticed that there were a few students bullying and making fun of another student during PE class. They were making racist remarks and referring to the tones of the color of his skin and calling him dark. The student was visibly distraught by what was happening. Evan noticed and immediately went to him and talked with him to make him feel better. Later, he took the initiative to report the incident to the principal and discuss how he felt that it wasn’t right for others to be bullying his friend because of the color of his skin. Thanks to Evan standing up for his friend, the issue was discussed and resolved. Evan knows that there is no place for hate in school and did the right thing by taking a stand against bullying.
