Recently, while sitting in class, Imani noticed a classmate searching inappropriate material using the school’s laptop. Instead of ignoring it, Imani found a way to quietly tell her teacher that the classmate was looking at guns on the laptop. Because of her awareness, the student was identified and was directed to the appropriate resources. What made this act especially courageous is the fact that the student is a friend. Despite the potential consequences, Imani recognized the importance of doing the right thing. At school, Imani has consistently been a role model student earning a spot on the Honor Roll and excelling on her exams. With the support of her family, Imani has overcome challenges that are not typical for a child of her age, demonstrating resilience and perseverance. While in the past she struggled with submitting to peer pressure, she is now confidently holding herself and her friends to a higher standard, focusing on making positive choices every day.
