Jayson Rey
Ninth Grade, New World School of the Arts
Washington, D.C. Trip Winner
While out on his daily jog, Jayson noticed a 5-year-old child about
to cross a busy street without realizing an oncoming car was
approaching. Without hesitation, Jayson rushed to the child’s aid
to prevent the accident. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell injuring
himself, but still managed to safely intervene and protect the child.
Thankfully, the child was unharmed, and Jayson actions
undoubtedly prevented a tragedy. Beyond this heroic act, Jayson
has shown consistent academic excellence, is a talented musician,
playing both the saxophone and clarinet, and is an active member
of the chess club. In addition, he serves the community by
volunteering to tutor younger students during band camp at his
former middle school. Jayson is truly an exceptional young person
whose actions demonstrate courage, integrity, and a commitment
to helping others.
