Jermar Kelson

Third Grade, Colonial Drive Elementary

Jermar is committed to improving the lives of those around him. He assists his teacher, who is recovering from surgery, with daily tasks and helps set the classroom and maintain order. Jermar also goes above and beyond outside the classroom to assist others and has a heart for helping those less fortunate. He recently donated bags of clothes, shoes, and football uniforms and equipment to three needy families. He even donated his favorite football shoes to a needy friend he plays with at the park. Jermar was voted captain of his football team and as such can be seen tying shoe laces, giving out water, helping in player positioning and leading exercises while motivating his teammates. He is also a team player at home where he helps his brothers with chores and carries groceries for his grandmother. Jermar looks up to his older brothers who are also previous Do The Right Thing Winners and served as role models for him. With the support of his brothers and family, Jermar looks forward to continue leading the way for others by doing the right thing both in and out of class.
