Josemanuel Mendiet

Recently, a student mentioned to Josemanuel that they have thoughts of hurting themselves. Josemanuel recognized the seriousness of the matter and the potential danger posed to the student. As such, he immediately took action. Since he did not know the student’s full name, he first went to the student’s teacher to correctly identify the student and then reported the incident to the counselor. Because of Josemanuel, the student was provided the necessary assistance and resources needed. He even followed up and made sure his peer was being helped, demonstrating compassion and empathy. Josemanuel is a Cambridge magnet student who has academically challenged himself by taking AP, Dual Enrollment, and Honors courses. Through his actions, Josemanuel proves to be the definition of a student who’s doing the right thing both in and out of class.
