Rapids Waterpark Trip Winner
Katalina immediately came to the aid of a fellow classmate who was experiencing a medical emergency with partial vision loss. Recently, while taking a math test, her friend became distressed when her vision suddenly became impaired. She was scared and confused, not knowing what was happening to her and was unable to finish her test. The friend confided in Katalina and expressed her concern and fear about the sudden impairment. The student was embarrassed and hesitant to tell anyone, but Katalina immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation. Without a second thought, Katalina insisted that her friend visit the nurse. Her friend resisted, but Katalina didn’t back down. She found the first adult she could, a substitute teacher, and explained the situation, ensuring that the student received the help she needed. Thanks to Katalina’s quick thinking, the student was taken to an eye doctor and her vision was restored. Thanks to Katalina’s immediate intervention, her friend was able to receive the care and attention she needed in a timely manner. Katalina’s compassion, kindness, and genuine concern, exemplify what it means to be a true friend.
