Lua Suzal
Eighth Grade, Paul W. Bell Middle
Lua exemplifies resilience, kindness, and determination. Despite facing a multitude of physical and health struggles, Lua shines as a role model in her community through her unwavering spirit and selfless dedication to others. Since she was a child, Lua has been under the care of neurologists to manage convulsions and was also born with a condition affecting her legs, leading to enduring five major surgeries since the age of eight. These procedures required long recovery periods, including wheelchair use and extended time away from school. Despite the challenges, Lua maintains excellent grades and embraces life fully—a testament to her drive and perseverance. At school, she helps guide newcomers and also participates in the Best Buddies Club, assisting students with severe learning disabilities. Her kindness is evident in her everyday actions and was recently exemplified when she stepped in to pay for a classmate who did not have the funds to pay for a class fee. She has a deep passion for environmental sustainability, actively participating in school recycling projects and dreams of becoming a marine biologist. Despite facing immense challenges, Lua remains focused on excelling academically, supporting her peers, and making a difference in our community.
