Maria made the difficult decision to intervene and report to her teachers that her friend was physically harming herself on two occasions. School administration intervened and the student in crisis was able to receive the help needed. Despite knowing that her friend was very upset with her for advising the teachers, Maria still felt that is was important to intervene and assist her friend despite the risk to their friendship. Maria did the right thing and demonstrated what it means to be a true friend.
