During the first week of school, before class started, Miguel and Matthew advised the PE coach that there was a student that had brought a Taser and a knife to school. The PE coach immediately disclosed the information to administration and together with the school resource officer were able to immediately identify the student. The student underwent a comprehensive threat assessment and proper interventions where put in place and mental health services were provided to the student and parent. Miguel and Matthew knew the right thing to do was to immediately alert a trusted adult of a dangerous situation and because of their courage, a tragedy was averted.
