Miguelina Martinez

Third Grade, Charles R. Drew Elementary K-8 Center

Miguelina was in the school bathroom when several classmates started to pressure her to fight a new student that she was not getting along with. The students knew that her and the new student were not getting along and were bullying and pressuring her to engage in an altercation. Despite the pressure to do the wrong thing, Miguelina refused. She firmly stated that she did not want to be a bully and would not be engaging in such behavior. In the face of intense peer pressure, Miguelina knew what it meant to choose to do the right thing instead.
