Roxane Janssens

Roxane founded the Beyond the Pink Ribbon Project after her father was diagnosed with Stage 3 male breast cancer. While sharing his diagnosis with others, Roxane realized that awareness about male breast cancer is very limited in the Miami community. Partnering with the national HIS Breast Cancer Awareness Organization, she posted monthly on social media to educate the public and had a booth at her community’s annual “Green Day” celebration attended by over 10,000 Miami residents. At this event, Roxane distributed informational pamphlets, showed educational videos teaching men how to perform a self-exam, collected healthcare goods for patients, and organized fundraisers that have raised over $300 to support research and awareness initiatives. Her project has reached hundreds of community members, providing education and resources about male breast cancer that were previously scarce in our community. Roxane is doing the right thing by taking initiative and educating others to save lives.
