Samuel Deyan
Twelfth Grade, Ronald Reagan Doral Senior High
Samuel has had over 10 eye surgeries and has had retinal detachment in both eyes, cataracts, and glaucoma. He used to live in Palm Beach Gardens with his mother and sister when his mother passed away suddenly leaving no family members available to take care of him and his sister. He became depressed not knowing what would happen next as he had to leave his community and start a new life. Fortunately, through an act of pure kindness, Samuel began living with a friend from school, Ryan. Despite enduring such difficulties and with the support of Ryan and his family, Samuel is now thriving and doing great in school and his teachers are so happy with all the efforts he is making every day in his classes. He is a part of the Honor Roll, Chess Club, and is focused on graduating high school and supporting his sister. He also enjoys volunteering at church and cleaning up beaches. He dreams of one day becoming a mechanical engineer and helping others like Ryan and his family helped him.
