Sixto Morales

Eighth Grade, Paul W. Bell Middle

Sixto’s story reflects extraordinary strength, responsibility, compassion, and resilience in the face of adversity. As the oldest of four siblings, Sixto consistently takes on adult duties at home with maturity, love, and selflessness despite his family facing significant challenges. At the beginning of the school year, Sixto’s family moved to the Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park after purchasing a trailer at what they believed was an opportunity for stability. Sadly, they later learned that the entire park was scheduled for demolition, causing them to lose their home and investment. Despite this hardship, the family was eventually able to secure another place to live nearby. While the space is limited and conditions are difficult, Sixto never allows this reality to define his attitude or limit his goals. Through every challenge, he has remained grounded, positive, and compassionate. During the school’s Thanksgiving Can Drive Sixto donated the most canned goods despite being one of the students with the greatest need. His selflessness continued during the Sheriff’s Office “Shop with a Cop” Christmas event where instead of spending $100 on himself, Sixto instead chose to buy baby bottles, shoes, and clothing for his siblings, prioritizing his family’s needs over his own wants. Despite working alongside his father in landscaping on weekends, holidays, and teacher planning days, helping his mother cook and care for his siblings, and balancing advanced coursework, Sixto maintains excellent conduct and academic success and his teachers admire him deeply. No matter the circumstance, Sixto remains committed to persevering and helping others, serving as a true inspiration to us all.
