Sofia Fuentes

Sofia is a student who demonstrates exceptional courage, compassion, and leadership. Recently she learned that a classmate was experiencing physical and emotional abuse and had expressed intentions to end her life. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Sofia immediately sought guidance from her father. The following morning, she did not hesitate to report all the information she had to the school’s administration in order to get the student help as soon as possible. Because of Sofia’s quick and responsible actions, immediate interventions were put in place to ensure the student’s safety and well-being. While many students were aware of the situation, Sofia was the only one who spoke up, demonstrating maturity and an unwavering sense of responsibility. At school, Sofia is an Honor Roll student and part of the Show Choir and Peer Counselors. Her future aspirations include working in the mental health field, becoming an animator, and joining a band. Sofia exemplifies the qualities of a leader, advocate, and Do The Right Thing role model.
