Stacey Sardinas

Stacey embodies courage, integrity, and responsibility, all hallmarks of a true role model. Her remarkable bravery in reporting a dangerous situation, demonstrates her strength of character. Earlier this school year, while walking home, Stacey encountered a fellow classmate who threatened her by saying she had something in her bookbag that could hurt her. Stacey was immediately fearful, especially since the student began following her home and she also worried that the student might be carrying a dangerous object that could put others at risk. Summoning remarkable courage, Stacey decided to report what she had witnessed to school police and administration. The student’s bookbag was subsequently searched and a taser was found hidden inside. Because of Stacey’s actions, a potentially tragic situation was avoided and the student was able to be redirected to the appropriate interventions. Despite being a student who has faced her own academic challenges, Stacey has never allowed setbacks to define her and dreams of becoming an accountant to help her family. Beyond school, she helps her family with chores and anything they might need. Stacey is a shining example of a student who consistently does the right thing, even when it is not easy.
