Amber, Thiago, and Rachel recently showed incredible empathy, maturity, and courage when a fellow student confided in them about a deeply troubling situation at home. The student shared that his parents had been arguing for months, and that he had overheard one of them make a threat against their own life. Understandably, the student was overwhelmed with fear for his family. Instead of panicking or keeping the situation to themselves, Amber, Thiago, and Rachel advised him to immediately seek an adult for help and guidance. Thanks to their support and sound advice, the student approached a teacher and the school was able to intervene and take the appropriate measures to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being. When asked about their actions, the three friends expressed their desire for the wellbeing of their peers and their shared responsibility to help each other and show compassion and kindness. The very next day, the young man thanked them for their advice and support. Their compassion, maturity, and leadership make Amber, Thiago, and Rachel shining examples of what it means to “Do The Right Thing.”
