Yvette Kane

Fifth Grade, Claude Pepper Elementary

Yvette initially struggled with doing the right thing although everyone at home and school saw her great potential. She began turning that around when she begun to believe in herself. A village has helped Yvette achieve what she is achieving today thanks to her mom, teachers, counselor, school resource officer, and principal and assistant principals providing support and guidance into making better choices. Yvette is currently a role model and student leader in school and in her community. Recently Yvette was nominated by her teacher for the Student demonstrating the value of CITIZENSHIP in the Values Matter Miami Campaign. Yvette now follows the school rules, and is extremely helpful and dependable and recently confided in her teacher about a situation in class out of concern for her peers. Yvette also gives back to the community and has participated in food and toy drives to benefit others. She will be applying to attend the Magnet Legal program at Hammocks Middle School and hopes to become a police officer in the future. Despite a tough start, Yvette has turned it around and is on track to succeed.
