The Do The Right Thing Program (DTRT) just returned from its Special Recognition Winner trip to New York City.  Nine student winners from the 2012-2013 school year, along with DTRT Executive Director Jodi Atkison and Miami Police Public Information Officer Rene Pimentel, enjoyed four days/three nights in the city.  One of the many highlights was meeting Today Show anchor Lester Holt and getting his autograph!  The students also took in a Broadway play, Annie, and toured the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero and Harlem’s Apollo Theater.  An added bonus was getting the chance to see the NYC Marathon in full swing through Central Park.  Every year, DTRT awards a trip to each of our monthly Special Recognition Winners in the middle or high school category.  This school year, students will have the opportunity to win a trip to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
